Try the following. Do a search in Google, or your favorite search engine, on the term "best weight loss diet". What you will see turn up is hundreds of links to diets, all claiming to be the best. Unfortunately, what many of these diets really do is starve you and your body from the kind of proper nutritional diet, and the calories, needed to function properly.
Other dieting plans are only temporary fixes, so that as soon as you go back to your normal eating habits you put any weight that you lost right back on. Some of the worst of these plans involve the so-called detox diets that force you to completely starve your body of all nutrients for certain periods of up to 7 - 10 days.
Well, I guess if you are looking for a really quick fix, and are simply trying to fit into a dress for an evening, then one of these diets might just work for you - for a very short duration. But most of these diets, as you can probably see by now, are dangerous to your health.
Diets that do not attempt to remove food from your plate, and which include plenty of nutrients and minerals, are in general good for you. Healthy diets resemble more an eating plan, or a lifestyle change, and do not really appear to be diets at all, even if we still use the term diet to describe them.
So, the best weight loss diet, or program, really involves a plan that includes a healthy selection of foods, and a lifestyle change. For example, by learning to put less food on your plate and eating slower, you effect a lifestyle change that virtually guarantees a gradual but ongoing weight loss with minimal interruption to your current dietary habits. This technique re-trains your stomach, and your brain, and gives your body time to actually process the food that you are eating. It lessens the chance of overstuffing yourself, which often happens simply because you have added too much food to your plate.
Once you get this "smaller plate" practice down, you can start eating more frequently over the course of the day. This step may come naturally, because when you cut your portions down, and stop eating when you are full, you will naturally get hungrier more often.
A good plan is to have your three (smaller) meals, along with a healthy ? a meal between breakfast and lunch, and again between lunch and dinner. Meals like ? a serving of oatmeal, a bowl of fruits, some fresh vegetables - all are good for these "snack" times.
So now, you know what to do for a healthy diet, but possibly not what to eat. Vegetables, fruits, poultry, and fish provide you with the majority of vitamins and minerals that your body needs. Carbohydrates, surprising as it may be, are another source of nutrients required by your body. Cutting back on the carbohydrates is a good idea, but you certainly do not want to completely eliminate them from your diet.
Provided that your 5 or 6 meals a day include vegetables, fruits, poultry, fish, proteins, and a little in the way of carbohydrates, you will be enjoying a healthy diet. This is the best way to lose weight, and is the best way to stay healthy after your weight loss. Eating this way trains your body and mind for a healthy lifestyle, and will even help you to live a much longer life.

4 Fat Loss Tricks No One Tells You About
Editor's Note: Fitness author Jon Benson shared this letter with me and gave me permission to share it with you.
There's a club you should join.
It's called The Insider's Club.
It is that club whose membership is based only on what secret goodies the members possess.
In our case, this is the Fat loss Insider's Club. Only those in the know can join.... freee to them of course... : )
So, if you want to get rid of some lbs...
FATLOSS TRICK 1
Eat Pizza?
Today I went for some New York-style pizza here in Austin, Texas.
Do I feel 'guilty'? No way... in fact tomorrow I will feel LEANER.
What the what?
I had to set up my body for this bit of metabolic trickery of course. You cannot just "eat pizza" and shed the pounds... I wish you could!
But my personal System for fat loss not only "allows" pizza (and all my other favorite foods)... it DEMANDS that I eat it.
Here's another true story: I blew off my "feed meal" (that's what it is called in my System) four days ago. I have been on a massive fat loss roll for weeks now and frankly I just did not feel like eating a lot.
That's another benefit of my System... it really cuts your appetite and food-cravings down.
Anyway, the next day in the gym I fell on my face! I was weaker and not any leaner. I went home, ate literally about 6000 cals and presto: Leaner than 'ever' the next day and ready to train hard.

FATLOSS TRICK 2
The 10-Minute Cardio Trick
If you want to just get into good heart health, you only need GXP Cardio (covered in the System mentioned above) 2-3 days per week for 9-15 minutes. That's it.
However if you want to use "smart cardio" (not long, boring cardio) then you need a bit more. Just a bit.
It's my 10-minute trick.
Start with just every other day. Then move to 4 days... and then 5.
If you are pressed for time, this is ideal. Even if you are not, it works like magic.
10 minutes in the morning 'before' you eat. Just make sure your heart rate is only about 65% of your max... in other words, you are not breathing super-heavy at all, but you are working up a sweat. That's it.
10 minutes 'before' lunch. Just cut your lunch hour short by 10 minutes... that's all. You don't sweat enough to need a shower... don't worry. Walking stairs works great, or walking outside... be creative!
Then 10 'harder' minutes about 2 hours before you go to sleep. Get your heart rate up to where you are breathing a little harder.
That's it.
You can even start with just two sessions of 10 minutes (morning and night) if lunch is out.
FATLOSS TRICK 3
Increase Your Fat?
Yep. I want you to eat more dietary-fat.... but I want you to replace some of your carbohydrates (starch like rice, potatoes, etc.) with healthy fats like olive oil, coconut oil and almonds.
Fat dulls the appetite and all three of the fats above actually help your body get rid of its fat-stores if you decrease carbs.
I have the plan laid out for you. More here:

FATLOSS TRICK 4
Think Resistance
Far better than cardio will ever be. That would be resistance training.
Either weight training or in-home resistance training using bands and bodyweight. Studies confirm what we fitness pros already know: Resistance training not only sculpts the body (cardio cannot) but it also burns 9-12x more body fat over the long-term than cardio.
But you need both. And both cardio and resistance training (in-home or in the gym) is worked into my book "7 Minute Body."
You can get it when you pick up "Every Other Day Diet" for 75% off-retail... it is all detailed here...

Best Foods for Fat Burning
By: Craig Ballantyne, CSCS, MS
Turbulence Training for Fat Loss
I couldn't be any simpler with my nutrition recommendations for fat burning. You will get have the most energy and the best body and fitness level possible if you eat whole, natural foods. I always ask Dr. Chris Mohr, author of the Turbulence Training for Fat Loss Nutrition Guidelines if I ever need help with nutrition information.
You must avoid processed foods, which is pretty much anything in a bag or a box. So cut out muffins, donuts, pre-packaged cereals, white bread, pasta, chips, crackers, cookies, etc.
We need to return to a time of simpler eating, focusing on fruits, vegetables, nuts, lean proteins, and healthy fats. It will take some "bad habit breaking" to rid yourself of your addiction to processed foods, but in your journey you will learn to appreciate the taste of REAL food again.
You don't have to eat meat to lose fat and build muscle, but it's not unhealthy to eat beef, chicken, and fish. In fact, fish contains essential fatty acids we can't do without.
You might have heard about the importance of healthy fats, which is a big turn-around from the low-fat mentality of the 80's and 90's. We now know eating fish and nuts won't make us fat, but will in fact make us healthy and help control our appetite.
So just focus on foods that haven't been processed, and you'll start to see changes in your body and energy levels in a matter of days. Get rid of the processed foods and you won't be tired anymore!
I strongly believe nutrition is the MOST important factor in fat loss and in health. If you're eating processed foods, trans-fats, and too many calories, you won't get maximum benefits from your exercise program, no matter what you are doing. Nutrition can either heal you or kill you, so choose wisely. Fortunately, the right choices are the simple choices.
I've had clients that switched to whole, natural foods and almost overnight they've reported changes in their bodies and huge increases in mental energy. So stick with the simple nutrition approach for fat burning.

SENSIBLE DIET TIPS
Start your diet with a food diary, record everything you eat, what you were doing at the time, and how you felt. That tells you about yourself, your temptation, the emotional states that encourage you to snack and may help you lose once you see how much you eat.
Instead of eating the forbidden piece of candy, brush your teeth. If you're about to cheat, allow yourself a treat, then eat only half a bite and throw the other half away. When hunger hits, wait 10 minutes before eating and see if it passes. Set attainable goals. Don't say, "I want to lose 50 pounds." Say, "I want to lose 5 pounds a month." Get enough sleep but not too much. Try to avoid sugar. Highly sweetened foods tend to make you crave more.
Drink six to eight glasses of water a day. Water itself helps cut down on water retention because it acts as a diuretic. Taken before meals, it dulls the appetite by giving you that "full feeling." Diet with a buddy. Support groups are important, and caring people can help one another succeed. Start your own, even with just one other person.
Substitute activity for eating. When the cravings hit, go to the "Y" or health club if possible; or dust, or walk around the block. This is especially helpful if you eat out of anger.
If the pie on the counter is just too great a temptation and you don't want to throw it away, freeze it. If you're a late-night eater, have a carbohydrate, such as a slice of bread of a cracker, before bedtime to cut down on cravings. Keep an orange slice or a glass of water by your bed to quiet the hunger pangs that wake you up.
If you use food as a reward, establish a new reward system. Buy yourself a non-edible reward. Write down everything you eat - - everything - including what you taste when you cook. If you monitor what you eat, you can't go off your diet.
Weigh yourself once a week at the same time. Your weight fluctuates constantly and you can weigh more at night than you did in the morning, a downer if you stuck to your diet all day. Make dining an event. East from your own special plate, on your own special placemat, and borrow the Japanese art of food arranging to make your meal, no matter how meager, look lovely. This is a trick that helps chronic over-eaters and bingers pay attention to their food instead of consuming it unconsciously.
Don't shop when you're hungry. You'll only buy more fattening food. Avoid finger foods that are easy to eat in large amounts. Avoid consuming large quantities of fattening liquids, which are so easy to overdo. And this includes alcoholic beverages. Keep plenty of crunchy foods like raw vegetables and air-popped fat-free popcorn on hand. They're high in fiber, satisfying and filling. Leave something on your plate, even if you are a charter member of the Clean The Plate Club. It's a good sign that you can stop eating when you want to, not just when your plate is empty.
Lose weight for yourself, not to please your husband, your parents or your friends. Make the kitchen off-limits at any time other than mealtime. Always eat at the table, never in front of the TV set or with the radio on. Concentrate on eating every mouthful slowly and savoring each morsel.
Chew everything from 10 to 20 times and count! Never skip meals.
